With our full and bustling lives here in Ocean Isle Beach, we know that it’s often too easy to avoid cleaning. Excuses about: there’s no time today, I don’t have the right cleaning product, it will just get dirty again anyways, etcetera. One of these oft-avoided household cleaning tasks is scrubbing grout. Our experts at Floor Coverings International of Shallotte want to help make this task as easy as possible for you. By cleaning your grout, you can avoid unsightly stains and showcase the beauty of your tile. It’s easy, don’t worry! We have a simple method that only requires items you already have in your kitchen: baking soda and vinegar.
How To Clean Your Grout
What You’ll Need
Vinegar (White distilled is preferable)
Toothbrush or other small scrubbing device
Sponge or mop
- In your mixing bowl, combine baking soda, water and juice of a lemon (if you have it) into a thick paste
- Cover grout lines with the paste
- While paste is sitting, pour vinegar into your spray bottle
- Spray vinegar over paste
- Let mixture sit until it stops foaming
- Scrub grout with toothbrush
- Wipe surface clean with sponge or mop
Note: We recommend doing your floor in two or three sections if the grout is in a large area, this will make it easier to manage when you’re scrubbing.
You’re done! Wasn’t that easy? At Floor Coverings International in Shallotte and Southport, we love helping people make the most of their floors. By cleaning your grout frequently, you reduce the likelihood of permanent staining and increase the life of your beautiful tile. Grout is a highly porous material, so it does need to be cleaned fairly frequently. We recommend keeping these materials on hand at all times so that when you have a free afternoon, you’re ready to do a bit of mixing, spraying and scrubbing!
